Bright colours can appear flat on photographs, especially where only one colour is used. A wash of bright pink in this case. I like to use the halo or spotlight technique to add dimension.
The halo technique uses strategic shadow placement in order to fake the appearance of larger, rounder eyes. Basically, what I did was to “sandwich” a bright, light pink with a darker pink on both the upper and lower lids. I also applied a pink highlighter to the center of the upper and lower lid for a more dramatic effect.
