I went back to my roots and first love, creative makeup. Painterly brushstrokes inspired by the clothing accentuate the models' features while simple enough to let the clothing speak for itself.

About the project (Via Vogue.it)
This project was born as a chance encounter with three fashion designers – Clive Rundle, Jacques van der Watt, Ryan Keys – at the South African Fashion Week, which was held in April, 2018 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
SAFW was kind enough to have me photograph the backstages during their runway shows, and I was particularly struck by some of the designers there, so much in fact that I came back in June and organized an editorial with three of the brands I liked the most and – I think – represent different aspects of South African fashion: Clive Rundle (http://cliverundle.com/), Black Coffee (http://www.blackcoffee.co.za) and Keys Fashion (http://www.safashionweek.co.za/category/designers/keys-fashion/).
I feel like South Africa right now is in a vibrant and exciting spot for fashion, with many designers specializing in boutique-like experiences and production techniques quite unlike anything I have seen in Europe.
